i can’t believe i’ve gone thus far without mentioning my favourite tv show of all time- arrested development!

the intricate story lines, the wittiness of it all. its really like a half hour of wonderment. why it was cancelled is beyond me, maybe people aren’t smart enough to follow it.

i remembered it because its on cbc right now! another reason i love the cbc a lot. really, i love anything canadian related (and michael cera aka george michael on arrested development is from brampton- woot woot), but the cbc is pretty much amazing. you can’t really get through canadian communication thought with andrew herman and think otherwise.

so the impossibility has happened- i just saw a friends episode that i’ve never seen before! i never thought this could happen. as an avid friends watcher from when it was still running, slash owning all of the seasons and watching all of the discs (or so i thought!), i thought i had seen them all!!

maybe falling asleep for two years of roomie nights with mel wasn’t the best idea!

love you mel

today i was telling a friend at work about how i feel like i missed one day of art class in grade 3, and it was that class where everyone learned about what colours added together make other colours. because to this day i still don’t know how to make green.

(or any other colour for that matter)

when i recently went to vegas i did the most amazing thing- attended the beatles love show at the mirage! it was the best thing ive ever laid eyes on. i found some bootleg stuff on youtube, its NOTHING compared to what its like to be there in the theatre, but its a little somethin’ somethin’.

if anyone has any great ideas as to how i can somehow devote my life to this show, and the beatles at large, please let me know! i’m not against sleeping on gondola drivers floral couches, as one was offered to me.

okay, you know you are growing up when…

bsb is coming to town on august 7th, and i don’t want to go! well, its not that i don’t want to go. like if someone gave me tickets for free i would probably most definitley make use of them (ESPECIALLY if they are on the grass! i love grass seats!!), however, i have such an amazing summer line-up going on, that ive already spent a lot of money on, its hard to justify another concert…

… except maybe blue rodeo on august 21st. ive seen them live 4 times, and i would do it again in heartbeat. ESPECIALLY in the summer time.

what is your favourite blue rodeo song? its hard for me to judge, love a good “hasn’t hit me yet”, but “how long” and “somebody waits” are also clearly amazing tunes.

so i got some wonderful news today- my two super good friends are coming home from south america in t-11 days!! its so wonderful! they have been gone since january and i’ve missed them everyday since. its gonna be an awesome summer of good times and great friends. (besides a couple of my favourites being away in certain lands of korea and/or ecuador).

however, this wonderfullness is going to be easily thwarted if the weather doesn’t smarten up! ive been waiting for summer since about october when it got super cold, and today its the end of may and its still only like 9 degrees out and rainy!! i hear good things about this weekend though- im pretty stoked.

(by the way- happy birthday kimmy g!)

so last month’s rolling stone (one of my favourite magazines!) featured the four girls from the hills on the cover. so i guess one would think i’d be super happy that a couple of my favourite things came together, but i was oddly put-off. i guess its because i really love those two things for very separate reasons. i love rolling stone because it discusses music, and politics, with an edgier tone then your typical magazine read (though nothing like toro!). the hills i love for its complete mindlessness, and stupidity. its one of those things you watch when you want to think about nothing and get wrapped up in the pettiness of other peoples lives.

so the two coming together just didn’t seem to fit to me! i was particularly upset when the mtv aftershow interviewed an editor from rolling stone (gah, what i would do to work at rolling stone!) and tried to make him talk badly about the girls and he was just like you know, it was a pretty chill afternoon besides for the fact that heidi and LC didn’t talk to each other. and jessi and dan kept digging for more dirt! again, something i would normally love, but when it comes to degrading rolling stone to petty gossip, that just irks me.

anyways, for those interested, rolling stone has posted a video of the behind-the-scenes photo shoot for the cover.

do you know what i mean? are you ever disappointed when two of your favourite things come together? or are you ever upset when something you love is portrayed in a way you aren’t used to? darn media, playing with my emotions.

so you think you can…

so you think you can dance starts this thursday! im a huge loser and am so excited.

and im actually doubly excited because this year we get TWO! the american one AND the canadian one (though i don’t know when this one starts… does anyone?).

okay stop laughing at my loser-ness and start to embrace the amazingness that is SYTYCD (yes, i even use the acronym).

i will possess your heart

the new death cab cd came out… i am in heaven. i listened to at work from my new work husband (apparently upon my return to work i was upgraded from work friend to work wife… though i am not sure how i feel about the matrimonial ceremony in general, for fake fun im totally down with it).

it was so reliably death cab. i like it when there are things you can rely on in life, and death cab always sounds like themselves!

what do you think of the new death cab cd? or, all of the other stellar stuff coming out in time for the summer? there is the new coldplay (violet hill!! so great its even won over the edge 102.1 morning show!), AND new REM (supernatural superserious- i just bought tickets to the show at the amphitheatre).

so let the sun shine in

new studies show that in an effort to thwart off skin cancer risk, people have been avoiding the sun and covering up at all costs. however, this is actually resulting in an INCREASE to some kinds of cancers, and different autoimmune diseases.

okay yes, i am getting my info from feministing (where i get most of my good information from!), and no, they are not doctors. but they also aren’t advocating you get rid of sunscreen altogether.

doctors DO recommend that you get 20 minutes of sun (go vitamin d!) on 20% of your body between 11am-2pm (when its the strongest) every day. not only is it going to do your body good, but vitamin d increases happiness! people with vitamin d deficiencies are more likely to get seasonal affective disorder (or SAD). feministing recommends you cut the cord to the computer and get outside. im gonna go ahead and second this.

but not whilst reading my blog.

are you afraid of the sun? does the idea of a non-sunscreened body make you run and hide? or are you a sun lover like myself?
